Major Brands Welcomes Melva Pete, Chief Human Resources Officer

Melva Pete joined the Major Brands family in early January as our new Chief Human Resources Officer. As CHRO, Melva will oversee all things related to Major Brands’ greatest asset — its people. She will be responsible for managing all human resources functions and the HR team, as well as employee and community engagement, in addition to serving on the company’s Executive Leadership Team.

Melva brings proven executive level HR experience in recruiting and onboarding top talent, developing and training all levels of employees and coaching and developing strong leaders. She excels at supporting and stewarding a strong culture and cultivating and advancing talent. She has led the human resources departments in public enterprises, large corporations and family businesses.

In addition to holding a Master of Arts degree in Human Resource Management from Webster University, Melva has dual senior certifications from the Society for Human Resource management and the Human Resources Certification Institute. She also has received recognition as one of St. Louis’ 25 Most Influential Women in Business from the St. Louis Business Journal and in 2017 was named Corporate Executive of the Year by the St. Louis American Newspaper.

Melva has many interests, not surprisingly all involve interacting with people! She serves on the Board of Directors for Employment Connection — a community-​based agency that provides employment resources to individuals with limited opportunities and is a member of CHUMS, Inc., a national philanthropic organization focused on enriching the lives of children through intellectual, moral, and social development.
